The Little Bay Invitational began in 2025 as an artist-organized exhibition and gathering in Little Bay, Far Rockaway.

It was co-founded and is co-organized by Williamson Brasfield and Riitta Ikonen.

Conceived as a way to encounter art in direct conversation with the natural world, each edition brings together site-responsive installations, performances, and artist-led events in and around the bay. Much of the work is encountered from the water on guided canoe tours.

Participating artists engage directly with the bay—its tides, weather systems, bird life, and fungal ecologies—treating the landscape not as a backdrop but as collaborator and material.
